Beed is an ancient city situated in the heart of Maharashtra having a population of 1,46,237 (Census 2011). National High Way No.211 passes through the city.

   The city has a rich tradition and also known for the educational centers providing education to the students of rural and remote area. Shri Bankatswami Shikshan Sansth’s, Shri Bankatswami Mahavidyalya, Beed was established in June 1971 under the visionary leadership of Shri R.Y. Bhanage and Shri B.K.Bhosale.

   It is one of the most reputed colleges of the district. The college is affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. Initially the college started with Arts and Commerce faculty and Science faculty was added in 2008- 2009 on permanent Non Grant Basis. The area of the college land is 2.1 Acres. The college has Senior, Junior and H.S.C. Vocational wings. The college is located at Jalna Road,Beed. The college has considerably good infrastructure including huge two storied building, Library building, Boys’ Hostel building and Administrative building. The Girls’ Hostel building is under construction. The college has well equipped computer lab and UGC Resource centre with internet connectivity.

   The building comprises of two parts. One is Academic and the other is Administrative. The orientation of the building is arranged in such a way that maximum benefits may be obtained.

   The college building has ground + 1 structure for class-room, computer section and an independent library building.

   The College had 13 Departments in Arts Faculty and Commerce Faculty. As the years progressed, more Departments of Science Faculty were added. Each Department has highly qualified dedicated Teacher and well-equipped Laboratories catering to the needs of the students.
